Seattle Cascades Welcome Tim Mitchell as 2023 Sound Designer
The Seattle Cascades is excited to announce Tim Mitchell as the Seattle Cascades Sound Designer.
According to Ray Severns, Director of the Seattle Cascades: “Tim Mitchell is an amazing addition to the design and instructional team. He is among the leaders nationally in sound design and his work is extremely well regarded and is considered cutting edge. Tim is incredible and we lucky to have him.”
Tim Mitchell is a Pacific Northwest native and resident with a freelance career in the marching arts. Tim is an alumnus of the Kamiak High School Showband and winter percussion programs in Mukilteo, WA.
Tim is currently an Audio Engineer for the 20-time world champion Blue Devils A corps. He brings additional experience from his time engineering for current and former PNW corps Columbians (2016-2021), Seattle Cascades (2019) and Oregon Crusaders (2018).
Tim brings creative experience from his career as a freelance Sound Designer, serving over 150 scholastic programs locally and nationally through published arrangements with Jeff Chambers Music LLC in Puyallup, WA. He continues to serve independent PNW programs as Sound Designer for the Columbians Drum & Bugle Corps in Pasco, WA and IMPACT Percussion, a 2022 WGI PIO finalist in Kennewick, WA.
Tim learned audio engineering through broadcast production at Central Washington University, creating and co-producing nationally-awarded content under the mentorship of seasoned radio veteran Travis Box. During his time at KCWU-FM, the station was recognized and awarded at the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System conference in New York City (2015) and the College Broadcasters Incorporated conferences in Seattle (2014) and Philadelphia (2016).
As an Audio Engineer in the film industry, Tim worked on the production team for Discovery Channel’s Amanda to the Rescue - recipient of the Humane Society's Genesis Award for Outstanding Reality Series (2019). He interned at REX Production and Post in Portland, Oregon, assisting with a variety of documentary projects, short films, and independently produced music recordings. Tim served as Production Assistant and Audio Field Recorder for Behind the Bullet - recipient of the Oregon Independent Film Festival’s “Best Documentary” award (2019).
Tim is honored to serve in the regrowth of the Seattle Cascades in the 2023 season.
