Seattle Cascades Welcome Anthony Riederer as 2023 Guard Caption Manager
The Seattle Cascades is excited to announce Anthony Riederer as the Seattle Cascades Guard Caption Manager.
According to Ray Severns, Director for the Seattle Cascades: “I am very excited to work with Anthony Riederer as caption manager for the Seattle Cascades. I believe he is an exceptional addition to the team. Anthony is a well-respected color guard educator from the Northwest who understands color guard in our area and the needs and challenges that entails. His incredible background working with Northwest color guards has seen his association with many outstanding local marching bands, drum and bugle corps, and winter color guards. I am excited to see what Anthony brings to the 2023 Seattle Cascades and look forward to seeing the incredible performance qualities I have always respected in his ensembles on the field."
Anthony has served as a technician, choreographer, consultant, designer, and caption head for scholastic and independent pageantry organizations in the Midwest, Intermountain West, and Pacific Northwest. In 2018 he helped found Cascadia Winterguard, an independent guard serving performers in the Portland-metro area and the greater PNW. He currently serves as the Guard Director at Century High School.
In addition to working as a consultant and designer, Anthony is a WGI Circuit-certified Design Analysis judge and works as adjudicator for a number of marching band contests and winter guard circuits including Texas Color Guard Circuit, Mid-Continent Color Guard Association, NorthStar Circuit, Carolina Winter Ensemble Association, and the Winter Guard Association of Southern California. Previously, he was the Judge Coordinator and an appointed member of the Board of Directors for the Heartland Winter Arts Association.
In his life as a performer, he spent multiple seasons with the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps and Northern Lights Winter Guard.
Outside of pageantry, Anthony holds a Master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Urban Design and a Bachelor of Arts in Historic Preservation and Community Planning. Currently, he manages the Community Development Code for the City of Hillsboro, Oregon. In this role he seeks to work with stakeholders to support predictable development outcomes which drive forward Hillsboro's values of being a proactive, well-designed, sustainable, and business-friendly community.
