About This Event
1. Sign Up For a Clinic
Secure your audition spot by completing our online registration. You can choose to pay your audition fee online, or at the door. You will get an e-mail confirming your registration and a reminder e-mail prior to camp. Your registration fee includes a full day of clinics with our Instructional Staff in addition to your personal auditition. You will meet and work with other potential members from all over the world. You will be seen, heard, and receive instruction from some of the best educators in the country.
At the end of the clinic, you will receive a copy of your audition worksheets and personalized feedback from your instructors. This is a great tool for you whether or not you choose to march or are offered a spot in the Cascades. You can use this information to improve your marching and playing abilities for future or other auditions. At the end of the audition process, we will notify you of your status.
When registering, you have the option to pay the fee online, or to pay at the door. If you register and pay in advance and are unable to attend, your audition fee is refundable, or can be applied to a future audition event.
2. Download Your Audition Package
In order to audition, you'll need to purchase and download the audition package appropriate to your Caption and Instrument. Audition Packages are free. Get your package here: https://seattlecascades.org/downloads
3. Prepare for your audition.
Print out your Audition Package, and be sure to bring it with you to the audition event! It's up to you to put in the time to practice, and join the appropriate Facebook interest group for your caption. The more prepared you are, the better your audition will go, and being prepared allows your instructors to provide more more valuable and useful feedback. If you have questions, send an e-mail to your caption head (which you can find on our staff page) and they can get you headed in the right direction!
4. Show up ready to work.
To get the most out of a single day event, you need to be ready to go when you arrive. The more time it takes to get settled down, the less time you will have to spend working with the instructors. Dress and prepare for physical activity (marching, running, stretching, dance, etc.). Wear shoes that have ankle support (running shoes are not recommended) and bring clothing that is appropriate for movement and exercise (no jeans).
For one day events you are encouraged to bring your audition instrument or equipment. We will have a limited amount of equipment available. Check with your caption supervisor if you are unsure. Brass players should bring an appropriate mouthpiece at a minumum. Percussionists should bring sticks and a practice pad.
